Hello MegaPlaneters! Welcome to our second instalment of the developer blog. In our last blog-post, we set out to bring you a summary of the last few months work and what we would be working on in the immediate future. In this post we will give you an update on the past months work and a peak into what is on our immediate to-do list.

🪑 Item Optimisation
In February’s blog, we talked the huge piece of work we have been chipping away at for a number of months which would allow us to remove all item images from the game build, and instead pass down just the images that you require. This work is now complete! (well.. Kinda). The technical part is complete, and we have already started to remove some collections of images from the game. We started with all Rare Collectables & Valentines Day 2026 items, and all future collections such as St Patrick’s Day 2026 will also follow the new system of pulling down item images as and when you need them, and over time we will continue to remove more collections from the game files and onto the new system.

So what does this mean for the players? Well, first and foremost it means that the long loading times that you experience when you first load up the game, particularly after an update, will start to get shorter and shorter. The game will have significantly less files to download and therefore you will be able to get onto MegaPlanet much quicker than before.

Now you may be thinking “If i have to download each items images one at a time, doesnt this add more loading time?”. Technically yes, it means the first time you see an item during a session you will need to load that items images and depending on your internet speed, that download time could vary, but for average internet speeds this should seem almost instant and once you have downloaded an items image, they will store themselves for the remainder of your session!

Secondly, thumbnails will begin to improve over time! We heard your feedback about small items looking really blury and lacking detail in the store, trades and other inventory menus, and we have been working over the last few months to create thumbnails for every item! This means that you will be able to see a clear preview of items before you purchase them!

Now similar to items, thumbnails will also be downloaded as and when you need them, so don’t be alarmed if you get a brief loading symbol when rushing through your inventories.

Spoilers be gone! With item images no longer being stored in the game files, new item leaks will be a thing of the past!

💰️ New Trade Interface
We have completely revamped the trade menu! As well as a fresh lick of paint, the new Trade UI comes with some quality of life upgrades. Hovering over items or portals in your inventory, you offer, or the other players offer will now display the item name in a handy tooltip.

Credits are now much easier to add to your trade offer! We have ditched the long line of arrows for changing the amount of credits you want to trade, and replaced it with a brand new number grid, so you can quickly click in your credits offer! For comparison, if you wanted to offer 99,999 credits on the old system, this would have taken you a whopping 45 clicks! The new system reduces that to just 5 clicks!

Mouse owners rejoice! We have added mouse-wheel scroll to the trade inventory, allowing you to quickly spin your way to the deep, dark depths of your item hoard!

Ever removed an item from your trade offer and it gets yeeted to the bottom of your inventory? Not anymore! Items & portals will now retain their position in your inventory during a trade even when the stack value reaches 0.

🛏️ New Inventory Interfaces
The play-mode inventory has also been given a makeover! We have added pagination to your play-mode inventory along with a handy page number indicator, making it easier than ever to see the size of your inventory.

Your play-mode inventory is now also the best place to see an items preview! By selecting an item in here, you will be able to see the items thumbnail in a nice 300x300 view, the item name, description, wealth value, and sell back value.

🖌️ Edit Mode Inventory & Improvements
Now we couldn't redecorate the trade and play inventory and not give the edit mode inventory some love could we? We started by looking at ways to give you more space whilst editing your room, and by shrinking the height of the inventory bar by almost 50%, you can now see a lot more floor space than previously possible without collapsing your inventory or using TAB to hide UI. Now this does make the item previews slightly smaller, but with the introduction of new thumbnails, we believe this will balance out perfectly.

Now whilst the new inventory bar in edit mode is smaller, it still covers the bottom corner of your room when not collapsed or hidden, and this was really annoying when trying to set the room spawn point in the bottom corner of the room! Now when you are setting the room spawn point, the inventory will hide, and re-appear once your are done, and as always, you can use the right-mouse button to cancel setting a spawn point.

Mouse owners rejoice... Again! Mouse wheel scroll was already implemented in edit mode inventory, but it previously scrolled from left to right. We have now updated this to scroll up and down.

Similarly to all other inventories, the edit mode inventory will load image thumbnails as and when you need them, so dont be alarmed if you see a loading icon when playing on a slow network, or if your inventory prevents you from scrolling for a split second whilst it fetches more items for you.

When you drag an item from your inventory into a room, that is when it will download the items images. For some items this can take longer than others, again depending on your network speed, but also depending on how many images the item has (first state, second state, first mask, second mask, thumbnail). If your item is taking a moment to download, you will stead see a cardboard box that you can still drag into place, so your editing experience is hopefully undisrupted!

Similar to the trade inventory, items will now also retain their position in your edit mode inventory even when the stack hits 0! We believe this makes finding the item you want to use much easier BUT, there are a few reasons that an item may end up at the bottom of the pile.

When you add an item to your inventory, any items that where not already loaded into your inventory, and do not have a stack to add into, the item will be added to a temporary stash, and added to the end of your inventory once you have loaded all of your available items.
Clear room – Similarly to the above, if you clear your room and the items that you clear do not have an existing item slot in your inventory with a stack, they will go into the stash and be added to the end of your inventory.

Oh... and we also added item name tooltips to edit mode inventory too!

🗑️ Clear Room changes
Clearing your room now only clears items! This means that you don’t have to re-link all of your portals if you want to start again with your rooms. Is this better? Or do you prefer to clear everything when using the clear button? Let us know!

🐛 Bug & Item fixes
Bugs are no fun for anybody, and as updates pile up, so do the bugs if they are not given the right attention. So we spent some time fixing some of the most annoying bugs in the game. The full breakdown of bugs can be found in the notes for update 35, but this included some bugs such as the game crashing when joining a room, particles getting stuck on your screen when changing rooms, and more.

Now bugs don’t just mean black screens and getting stuck in a menu. It can also mean incorrect collisions on items, or even items missing important frames. In update 35, we gave some attention to some items that needed a rework on their collisions, or where missing a 3rd and 4th rotation.

🔭 Looking ahead to what’s next
As previously mentioned, we will continue to remove item images from the game files over time and will be adding in new items thumbnails over the next few updates. Next on the agenda for the Raging Bull Games team is a few more UI upgrades to bring some of the outdated menus up to speed with the fresh new UI that have been appearing in-game over the last few months. A new level-up menu is coming, as well as a new player info menu and a way to see other players badges!

Following that, we will be doing some more finishing touches to the games optimization, as-well as some quick-fire quality of life improvements including an AFK indicator, and a bulk sell-back feature!

🎼 Nightclub
Many of you have been asking about the Nightclub hangout. Don’t worry, the Nightclub is still very much high on our list of priorities, but just not quite as high as some of the other key features that need to be ticked off the list first to make the Nightclub as immersive as possible. Things such as game optimization and missing features such as dancing and sitting are really important to a successful launch of a Nightclub hangout. It is also important that our current UI is consistent before we go introducing a lot of new UI menus.
